Sashimi Tuna
400 gOlive oil
5 gSalt
10 gSesame seed
20 g
Directions
- Preparation
- Place the sashimi-grade tuna on a plate. Evenly sprinkle salt over the surface and let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
- Rinse the tuna and pat it dry thoroughly using a sashimi drying cloth or paper towel. Wrap it in a dry paper towel and refrigerate for 15 minutes to let it dry further.
- Spread the sesame seeds on a separate plate. Roll the tuna in the seeds to coat the surface evenly.
- Cooking
- Heat a non-stick pan over high heat and spray with olive oil. Sear each side of the tuna for about 1 minute (adjust based on thickness).
- Once all sides are browned, transfer the tuna to a wooden cutting board and let it rest for 3 minutes.
- Carefully slice the tuna and serve with your choice of sauce!
Notes
- Optional : A dash of sesame oil for extra flavor, chopped spring onion for garnish
- Sauce recommendation : Soy sauce for sushi with wasabi or zero calories sweet chilly sauce
