A nutritious high-protein cottage pie with a flavorful beef filling topped with creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • Olive Oil
    5 gram

  • Minced Garlic
    15 gram

  • Grated Carrot
    130 gram

  • Celery
    150 gram

  • Onions
    150 gram

  • Woolworths Heart Smart Extra Lean Beef Mince
    500 gram

  • Salt and Pepper
    1 pinch

  • Maggi Rich Gravy Mix
    25 gram

  • Mashed Potatoes
    500 gram

  • Optional: Mozzarella cheese for topping

Directions

  • Preparation
  • Make your mashed potatoes: Start by preparing the mashed potatoes using your go-to recipe (check the EVERFIT app if you’re using Lee’s!).
  • Prep your vegetables: Mince the garlic. Chop the carrot, celery, and onion into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • Cooking
  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 200°C and let it preheat for about 10–15 minutes.
  • In a deep pan, heat 5g of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until it becomes fragrant and lightly golden.
  • Add the chopped carrot and stir-fry for 2 minutes over high heat. Then add the celery, mix well, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Pat the beef mince dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Add it to the pan along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and about 80% cooked.
  • Stir in the chopped onion, cover with a lid, and let everything cook together until the beef is fully done and the onions are soft.
  • When the mixture looks juicy, add the Maggi gravy powder and mix well. Add a splash of water if needed to help it blend evenly.
  • Transfer the beef and veggie mixture into a baking dish. Spread it out evenly to create the base layer.
  • Spoon the mashed potatoes on top and smooth them out with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes.
  • If you’re using mozzarella, sprinkle it on top and bake for an extra 3 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly, divide into 3 portions, and dig in!

Notes

  • I used Lee’s mash potato recipe!!! (Recipe ofc available😍)
